Victoria Priola
Victoria is PhD candidate in Anthropology, with a focus in archaeology, advised by Dr. Katina Lillios. She received a BA in Anthropology with a minor in History from the University of Central Florida in 2018 and completed her MA in Anthropology at the University of Iowa in 2020. Her broad research interests are centered on ancient textile production, European archaeology, and feminist anthropology.
Victoria’s research combines a diachronic study of ceramic textile tools with experimental weaving to investigate the relationship between textile production, regional interactions, and social change during the Copper and Early Bronze Ages (ca. 3000-2000 BCE) in southwestern Iberia (Spain and Portugal). In her dissertation, she focuses on the loom weights from two ditched enclosure sites, Perdigões (Alentejo, Portugal) and Valencina de la Concepción (Andalusia, Spain). Her research emphasizes the highly visible nature of textile production during later prehistory and centers this labor-intensive activity in the broader conversation on socio-economic organization in southwestern Iberia during this dynamic period.
